I just remembered while watching one of the Harry Potter movies, that in Hogwarts the students would need to present a form of slip to be able to go and visit Hogsmeade. I guess such a rule not only applies to movies but it also applies in the real world. Just yesterday, Troy mentioned that the principal of the school he is teaching informs them that they need the parents permission slip from each children before they could allow these children to join the up coming field trip. Without a written consent a child can never join the trip otherwise the school and the teachers including the principal would be at jeopardy and they could be sued. Eric on the other hand, a teacher’s assistant nodded his head in agreement at Troy’s explanation. Eric also mentioned that during his application for the teacher assistant position, the principal asked him to write a 500 word essay on the topic “parental rights child”. The good thing about it is that it was a bring home essay. Eric got to work on it for two days before submitting it back to the principal. The week after he received a call from the principal’s secretary asking him to drop by the principal’s office the next day. Troy said that understanding these parental rights and permission forms are needed if they were to succeed in their roles as teachers. The children, once they are in school they are the teacher’s responsibility and no hard must come to them. Pretty tough and I just hope Troy and Eric will manage to last long in their jobs, they haven’t been there for a year and everyone at the house is crossing their fingers.
